Mae West is a series of works in tribute to Maria Norrman\u2019s long time favourite Hollywood star Mae West (1893-1980), actress, playwright, sex symbol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the opening of the exhibition <em>V\u00e4xa<\/em> at Tiger Strikes Asteroid in Los Angeles,&nbsp;Norrman gave a lecture performance about the life of Mae West, about her legacy and on Norrmans relation to her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was opened and closed by a mini seance in which Norrman requested the presence of the star herself by using the textile artwork, and wearing a headdress which is devoted to Mae West.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-vimeo wp-block-embed-vimeo\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Short clip from The Altar of Camp - Mae West\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/859704569?dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963\" width=\"750\" height=\"422\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; Mae West<\/strong><br><em>Textile, objects, photographs<br>50 x 30 cm\/19.6 x 11.8 inches<br>2023<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Altar of Camp &#8211; Mae West shows the star in the three different stages of her SEVEN DECADES long career in showbusiness &#8211;<br>&#8211; Mae West<\/strong><br><em>Headdress worn by Norrman while lecturing<br>2023<\/em><br><br>The headdress shows the first photo Norrman ever saw of Mae West.
